The Chapel by the Sea has, throughout its history, made Christian Education and caring for our younger members, a number one priority.  It is a way of fulfilling our baptismal vows that we make as a congregation whenever a child is baptized.

Youth Day Camp / Certified Babysitter Training

Chapel held a day camp for middle school youth Monday June 9th through Friday June 13th.  This was a wonderful week for all (8 attended).  We talked about body image, self responsibility, nutrition, how to read food labels, took a field trip to the grocery store, cooking lessons, manners, how to set a dinner table, sewing, crafts/spa (taking care of you), movies and more!  The youth were also certified by the Red Cross during the Babysitter Training course.  If you are looking for a babysitter you may contact Melody who will keep an updated listing.

Introducing…..The Confident Kids Program

Chapel is pleased to announce a new program to begin on Tuesday July 8th from 6-7:30 pm.  This is a weekly program for children and adults of all ages.  There will be a class for the adults and a class for the children, and will include light refreshments.  The program will be led by Sheila and Melody.  Confident Kids is a Christian based program that helps families (children and adults) learn how to deal with the stresses of living in today’s world.  I think most of us have said: “Times have changed!” and because of these changes the emotional needs of children growing up in America today are greater than ever before.  There are many of us who would like to learn the skills needed to help us cope with life circumstances in this always changing world. We can not express how important this program is for your family.  Please sign up in advance so we may better prepare materials.

****Be sure to read Sheila’s Tidings article this month regarding this very important program.****

Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.    1John 3:18

Chapel VBS

(Vacation Bible School)

Chapel’s annual VBS was held Monday June 16th through Friday June 20th. This year’s theme was “Beach Party, Surfin’ Through the Scriptures”.  The children learned Bible stories, memory verses, crafts, recreation, and science.  They also had a daily Be Attitude which was Be Obedient, Be Kind, Be Forgiving, Be Bold, and Believe.  We also had afternoon field trips of roller skating, bowling, movies, swimming, and turtle time with Eve on the Beach and got to see turtle nests.  A great time was had by all.  Thank you to those who attended the closing program on Friday night.  The children showed the congregation what they learned at VBS during Worship on Sunday, during the time with young believers.  Thank you to all of the VBS volunteers for all you do and for making a difference in the lives of children. You are wonderful!!

VBS Mission

Kids do mission work too!!

Each year we educate the children about mission during VBS and have a mission project.  This year the children can help others by bringing in canned food or change to help feed the hungry, or school supplies to help those in need at Beach Elementary School.  It is so important to teach children about helping others and VBS is a wonderful opportunity for these important mission projects. The children also made a project during VBS for each of the homebound members and talked about how acts of kindness make a difference in the lives of others.  We will continue to collect these mission items in Silver Hall until July 13th

Your help with the children’s mission is greatly appreciated

Beach Elementary

****We will be collecting these things all summer.

Don’t forget we do collect the following items:  old cell phones, newspapers, box tops for education, Campbell soup labels, and labels such as Swanson broth, and Prego spaghetti sauce (any that have the Campbell education logo), used printer cartridges-all types, and soda can tabs.  These items are collected year round to help raise money for Beach Elementary School.  All items are recycled and the school receives  money or credits from some of them to pay for things to benefit the children such as field trips, music books, etc.  We have labeled collection tubs in the entrance of Silver Hall for your convenience.  If you are able to take your recycled news papers to the school, the dumpster is red and green and located between the school and beach pool in the parking lot.  Your help is good for the environment and does make a difference for the children at Beach School.  Thank you!

Don’t miss the Fun!!
