Relieving Hunger Ministries

ECHO

ECHO stands for Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization.  This organization helps fight world hunger and is located on a research farm in North Fort Myers.

ECHO's  seed bank  and information network assist in teaching third world farmers how to farm better under the conditions in their locations, using the skills, tools, and materials available.

ECHO is funded by donations and is a part of the Living Gift Market held at the Chapel in late November.

Annually the Chapel serves dinner to over 200 agricultural missionaries from 80 countries, who come to learn and share their needs, concerns, and knowledge.

GOD'S TABLE

Started as a hunger program for those in our area, God's Table has evolved into a community outreach program run year round.  Each weekday morning a breakfast is served on the patio to those in need.  The participants are offered a sack lunch and canned goods for dinner.  A clothes closet, hygiene products and showers are also offered.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society, family Health Services, Salvation Army, and Veterans Administration also offer services.

Most of all, the love of Christ is shared and friendship extended to all.  The Chapel is now the central location for the Ministerial Association's oversight of this program.  Volunteers are needed each week day morning, as well as donations of canned goods and supplies.

Heifer Project International

Heifer Project International is an ecumenical, non-profit organization working to alleviate hunger in more than 128 countries from Appalachia to Zambia by providing food-producing animals and the training of families to 'pass on' the gift of the first-born female animal to another family in need.  This promotes self-esteem, self-reliance, sustainable food production, education and peace.

Chapel members contribute through the Mission Committee and by participating in the Living Gift Market held in late November/early December.
