One Great Hour of Sharing

Protestant Christians in the U.S. have shown their love for the world since 1949 through the One Great Hour of Sharing offering made during the Lenten season.

These funds are used to provide disaster relief and promote self development of people. The theme "fill the world with Love" expresses the spirit of One Great Hour of sharing ...Christians working together, sharing God's love with all humankind.  Chapel by the Sea was the recipient of funds from OGHS following destruction from Hurricane Charley.

Living Gift Market

During the Christmas season, the congregation is given the opportunity to make donations in honor of family and friends, giving a " life giving" gift to those in need.  Organizations supported in this way include ECHO, Habitat for Humanity, Heifer Project International and Medical Benevolence.

3 Cents Meal

This hunger program is in cooperation with other churches in the Peace River Presbytery and the Presbyterian Church USA as a part of the Cents-Ability hunger program.  It is a small, on-going, year-round, special offering as a response to hunger in our community, our presbytery and our world.  50% is used by PCUSA for presbytery and 25% is used locally by the Chapel.  Individuals participate by donating 3 Cents a meal, each meal, each day...63 Cents a week...Small contributions made regularly can produce significant results.

Christmas Joy Offering

Peacemaking Offering

In 1980 the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) declared Peacemaking a mission emphasis.  The first Sunday in October is named World Communion Sunday and a special offering is made to support this mission.

Fifty percent (50%) of the funds go to the General Assembly to support such causes as:

Each Presbytery receives 25% to support projects at home and abroad.  The Peace River Presbytery has adopted a policy to enhance regional work in peace and justice.  This has included: legal assistance for migrant workers, family literacy and education through the Beth-El Farm Workers Ministry, and financial support for Peace Education curriculum in the Immokalee area through the Guadalupe Center.

The remaining 25% is used by the individual churches.  The Chapel has used it over the years to support hurricane Andrew Relief, Yugoslavia Women's Crisis Centers, Immokalee Friendship House, Prison Ministry, Brightest Horizons Day Care, and God's Table.
