PRAYER OF CONFESSION    (Unison)

Almighty God, You love us, but we have not loved You.  You call, but we have not listened.  We walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped in our own concerns.  We condone evil, prejudice, warfare, and greed. God of grace, help us to admit our sin, so that as You come to us in mercy, we may repent, turn to You, and receive forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer.  Amen.

Based on Isaiah 51

INVITATION TO THE TABLE

THE GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Leader:  The Lord be with you.

People:  And also with you.

Leader:  Lift up your hearts.

People:  We lift them to the Lord.

Leader:  Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People:  It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Leader:  It is right and our greatest joy to give You thanks and praise.  You created the universe and breathed life into human form.  When we rejected You, You did not turn from us, but You sent Your prophets to call us back to Your way. By Your Holy Spirit You have led us in every age and place to do Your will. Therefore we praise You, joining our voices with choirs of angels, saying:

People:  Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of Your glory.

Leader: You are holy, O God of majesty, and You are worthy of praise.  In hope and expectation we gather around this Table.  Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these Your gifts of bread and wine, that the bread we break and the cup we bless may be the communion of the body and blood of Christ.

People:  Through Christ we pray, Amen.

Offering Envelopes for the calendar year 2011 (January-December) are available on a table in the narthex (arranged in alphabetical order). Please pick up your envelopes and begin using them in January 2011.  If you did not find your name on a box of envelopes, and wish to have a set, please inquire at the office.

Chapel Chats: Chapel Chats returns in January!  Beginning Wednesday, January 12, at 10:00 am, Pastor Maynard will lead a 12 week study on the Gospel of Matthew.

“Faithful and Fit” Spirituality As The Foundation Of Wellness. Sunday, January 16th, 9:00-9:45 am. Join our Parish Nurse, Sheila Morales, to discuss achieving health and spiritual well being.

SERVICE for WHOLENESS: Next Sunday, immediately following the worship service, there will be a short service which will include prayer and intercessions for healing.  Physical, psychological, mental, spiritual, and relational problems all need to be healed in order to find wholeness and fully respond to God’s love for us.  If you don’t need special prayer, you may stay and pray for others.
